Prayers for Logan Longoria

On July 29,2014 My son, Logan was enjoying a sunny day at the Comal river before his Senior year began and took a dive that changed his life. As a former Schlitterbahn life-guard, he was no stranger to the river or safety procedures. Logan did not expect this dive to break his C5 vertebrate and damage his spinal cord. There was no way to know the severity of the injury or how forcefully it would i

mpact our family. What was immediately apparent was Logan's inability to move. Logan was air-lifted from the facility in New Braunfels to a hospital in San Antonio better equipped to handle spinal cord injuries. We later were informed that when Logan was pulled from the Comal River that he was unresponsive no pulse. After two weeks in the neuro-ICU he was transferred to TIRR in Houston. The transfer itself was a bumpy ride but we are thankful to be taking active steps towards repairing the damaged communication between the mind and body. We are very thankful for the science that allows us to save our son's life. We realize these significant advances in medical technologies make a normal life more attainable. Knowing we increase Logan's chance at making a complete recovery has been our only consolation; but it has come at a high price. I'm sure many of you here today would not hesitate to seek the best treatment available if faced with the same circumstances. The difficult truth remains that while medical treatment is readily accessible the hospital bill is high enough to send you back to the E.R.! Logan's hospital bills easily exceed $1,000,000-an astounding figure to a family of modest means. Our family was fortunate enough to have insurance coverage at the time of this accident, but even with this blessing, the costs are astronomical. And as we are finding out there are things that not even the insurance will cover. Which brings us to why we are here today. When a child is injured, I cannot describe to you the emotional stress that follows. The emotional worry of knowing that you need to be at your child's side but also know that you need to go to work to be able to attain the medical needs that he needs. Your emotions are torn in so many directions and every day is a differnet roller coster ride. the day in and day out of fight with our goverment system to try to get Nursing services in place just to be able to go to work with the piece of mind that your child will be safe for a couple of hours it is so fustrating. The ability to focus on the healing process and not numbers and figures has a profound effect on recovery. It allows us to remember what is truly important: our faith, our family and friends, and our future.

Thank you everyone for all the amazing support and prayers while Logan Longoria has been in the hospital he is out and home for 6 days with continued IV treatment and then he will be back in the hospital for hopefully only 2 days for the surgery to remove the kidney stone since he is stable now! I'm so glad he got to come home at least for his Birthday on Sunday 🎂🎉 he turns 21 ! Oscar Longoria & Carmel Beyer Longoria

Thank you everyone for continued prayers... Logan Longoria is still in ICU he is slowly doing better...he is doing a lot of sleeping he is fighting a really bad infection from being septic tomorrow hopefully we will have more answers to what the plan will be now that he is more stable..Logan listened to church this morning, he was so happy to see his cousin's and his Uncle Chris Stevens he always drops what he is doing to come see Logan....thank you everyone 💚💚💚 Carmel Beyer Longoria

The DEVIL IS A LIAR ! I'm not gonna say it didn't bring back familiar hurts to walk in and see him like this and that I didn't want to just fall to my knees and yell at God and say why not me instead of my son....but then God said no now is the time to fight so I draw my sword from its sheath and start slaying the spirt of doubt, the spirt of anger, the spirt of weakness....God has chosen us for this to be a witness that God is good ALL THE TIME! Please pray hard for Logan he is very critical they were waiting for him in Austin upon arrival his blood pressure was in the 100's but with in 30 minutes it started dropping fast they took him to the holding area for surgery it took them 45 minutes with all kinds of medications to try to bring his blood pressure up his heart rate was very high he was tachycardic they lost his blood pressure even with the meds they finally got it up to the 70's and The Dr's said let's go now ....he has a severe infection at this point they don't want to remove kidney stone they will put a tube in his kidney to relieve the kidney...please pray I am very worried Logan Longoria Oscar Longoria Carmel Beyer Longoria

Update: he is Spetic they are going to transfer him by ambulance to Seaton Austin the kidney stone has moved and is abstracting...once we get there his Dr will decide what will be the best approach

Continued prayers for Logan Longoria he is on his way to ER with his day nurse to Kyle Seaton still having fever and not feeling well at all ...Oscar Longoria on his way back from Odessa and as soon as I get off my morning route I will head to the ER as well ....hate seeing our son like this

Special prayers for Logan tonight...he is not feeling well fever, vomiting, kinda high heart rate we are home for now over night nurse is gonna keep a very close eye one him. Just got of phone with Dr and he said ER in the AM to get all his labs back ASAP if he gets worse call EMS

Finally got to be with my boy he is in ICU and resting now ...let the healing begin
