As a Marine, this makes my blood boil. The Iwo Jima statue honors men and women who put their personal fears aside, fought through one of the hardest battles in our nation’s history, and sacrificed more than most of us can imagine.

To take a sledgehammer to a memorial honoring their courage is a cowardly and despicable act. Those hero’s fought for our country. The least we can do is protect the memory of what they gave.

I hope the statue is restored and justice is served swiftly, with a penalty that fits the crime. Semper Fi.

The Ohio Land Bank Association’s annual conference is coming to Mahoning County in April 2027. It’s a chance to show the work happening here and learn what other communities across Ohio are doing.

If you’ve worked on a project involving vacant property, housing, brownfields, or community development, consider sharing what worked and what you learned. Session proposals are due November 15. The details and submission link are in the Land Bank’s original post.

My vehicle sat at a dealership for a YEAR. I paid $2,600, and the original problem still wasn’t fixed.

Then, getting my vehicle back with missing bolts and screws, cracked pieces, stripped intake manifold threads, and a wire left unplugged is unacceptable. I’m still waiting on the heat shield they misplaced.

On top of that, the battery was completely dead and needed charging. That leaves me questioning how long it sat and what work was actually completed.

Now I’m buying parts and spending my own time correcting problems that should have been caught before the vehicle was returned.

I expect a vehicle to come back properly assembled and checked. This experience has cost them my trust—and my future business.

Great news for Austintown! The township was awarded a $130,000 federal grant to restore the Austintown Township Log Cabin. Built in estimated 1814, it is the township’s oldest standing structure and one of Mahoning County’s oldest surviving buildings.

This was one of the last grants I worked on before leaving my position as trustee, so I’m especially glad to see it awarded. The work will help preserve a piece of our history for generations to come.

Thank you to the Austintown trustees for recognizing my efforts, and to KO Consulting for its work on the application. I look forward to seeing the improvements take shape.

Great to see another investment taking shape in Youngstown. Having space ready for businesses that want to grow here is a big part of building our region’s future.
