Assistant Fire Chief Dave Wagner completed the Arizona Fire Chief Association’s Chief Executive Officer Program. The program consists of a case study presentation and 10 sessions presented in two, week-long segments addressing a wide variety of issues facing today's chief executive officer.

Engineer Mason Bernal was recognized during the Elks Lodge event “Law and Order Night” for his contributions to Avondale Fire and Medical’s Honor Guard. Engineer Bernal’s leadership has developed the guard into a professional team who has represented the department at many important events.

⚡ Charge into Fire Safety! 🔋
Avondale City Council declared this week Fire Prevention Week, and this year’s theme focuses on Lithium-Ion Battery Safety.
When using or charging devices:
✅ Buy electronics with safety certifications (UL, ETL, or CSA).
⚠️ Avoid cheap, uncertified products.
🔥 Charge safely—keep devices away from exits, flammables, and extreme heat.
👂 Watch for warning signs like swelling, smoke, or hissing—stop using immediately.
♻️ Recycle batteries properly—never throw them in the trash!
If a fire starts, get out and call 9-1-1.

The City will also post simulated messages on its website and social media to confirm the system is working. ⚠️ Remember: official alerts will only come from the City of Avondale. Don’t fall for scams.

Captain Josh Cameron, who serves both as a firefighter and in the military, nominated the department for supporting his service. From deployments to training, the Department has stepped up—backfilling his role and spending extra time away from their own families. One of the many ways our members put service before self.
