If you are interested in visiting, please email us at [email protected]. The Italian Benevolent Society, Filippo Corsi was organized and founded by Giovanni Amicangioli, December 16, 1915 as โ€œCircolo Italiano di Beneficenza, Filippo Corsiโ€. Shortly after this date, the Circolo Italiano became associated with the Sons of Italy as โ€œLoggia Filippo Corsi No. 562โ€. Then, in early 1920 changed the name again to โ€œSocieta di Mutuo Soccorsi Filipo Corsiโ€ and finally on February 28, 1924 was incorporated under our present name, โ€œThe Italian Benevolent Society, Filippo Corsiโ€. Giovanni Amicangioli, our founder in 1915 and our first president in 1924, was a family man with a great vision, and compassion for his fellow man. The early 1900โ€™s were very difficult for Italian immigrants, they came to the United States in search of a better life, but in most cases they encountered discrimination, menial jobs, low wages, and no benefits. John Amicangioli recognized the need for an organization that would assist its members and families in difficult periods, such as sickness, unemployment, or in case of death. The Circolo Italiano provided all of these needs. John and the other co-founders named the new organization in honor of Filippo Corsi, a man who exemplified the same ideals and beliefs. Filippo Corsi was born in 1869 in Sulmona of parents from Capestrano. He believed and fought for economic parity and democracy for all people. He battled for the rights of the working class, and through his newspaper โ€œLa Democraziaโ€ he conducted a campaign against the totalitarian government and oppressors of justice. For this, he was arrested, condemned and forced into political exile. Filippo Corsi returned from exile on May 3, 1903 having been elected to the House of Deputies in Parliament, by the people of Massa-Carrara. He was the first Democratic Representative to be elected to the Italian Parliament. Filippo Corsi died later that same year (1903). Today, โ€œThe Italian Benevolent Society, Filippo Corsiโ€ continues in the same tradition and beliefs of our forefathers, with increased emphasis on social and cultural programs.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐ŸŽ† Happy Independence Day! ๐ŸŽ†๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Today, as we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States of America, we honor the courage, sacrifice, and vision of those who built our nation and those who have continued to strengthen it over the past two and a half centuries.

As an Italian-American society, we are especially proud of the generations of immigrants who came to this country in search of opportunity while never forgetting the traditions they brought with them.

Many families from Abruzzo arrived in America in the late 1800s and early 1900s, bringing with them a strong work ethic, devotion to family, faith, and community. They helped build railroads, roads, bridges, businesses, and neighborhoods across the country while preserving the rich customs, recipes, music, and values that continue to unite Italian Americans today.

The story of America is made stronger by the stories of immigrant families like ours. We are grateful to celebrate both our Italian heritage and the freedoms that allow us to honor it.

From all of us at the Filippo Corsi Italian Benevolent Society, we wish you and your families a safe, joyful, and memorable Fourth of July.

May God bless our members, our families, our Italian heritage, and the United States of America as we celebrate 250 years of liberty.

This Memorial Day, we honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice and devotion to protecting our freedoms will never be forgotten. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

As an Italian-American society, we also proudly reflect on the generations of Italian immigrants and Italian-Americans who answered the call to serve the United States with courage and honor. From World War II to present day, countless Italian-American soldiers fought bravely while helping build the strong communities and traditions we cherish today.

At the Filippo Corsi Italian Benevolent Society, we are grateful for all who served, all who sacrificed, and the families who continue to carry their legacy forward.

Today, we remember them with pride, gratitude, and respect.

Wishing everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day.

๐ŸŒธ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น Buona Pasqua from Abruzzo! ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น๐ŸŒธ

Today, we celebrate Easter with the heart and soul of Abruzzo, where tradition, faith, and family come together in the most beautiful ways.

In the hilltop towns and seaside villages of Abruzzo, Easter is more than a day, itโ€™s a feeling. From the solemn and powerful processions of Good Friday to the joyful ringing of church bells on Easter Sunday, every moment is filled with meaning. Tables are set with traditional favorites like agnello (lamb), homemade breads, and sweet treats like fiadone and colomba, shared among family and friends with laughter and love.

One of the most breathtaking traditions is the โ€œMadonna che Scappaโ€ celebration, where the Virgin Mary runs to meet the risen Christ, a symbol of hope, renewal, and the triumph of life over sorrow.

As we gather here at the Filippo Corsi Italian Benevolent Society, we honor these rich traditions and the heritage that connects us all. May this Easter bring peace, joy, and new beginnings to you and your families.

Buona Pasqua a tutti! ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ๐Ÿ’›
