Property taxes are high, everyone agrees. But how do you lower them? In today's Illinois House 51 candidate forum, Lori Smith (below left) says we need to cut spending, pointing on her website to waste and fraud in our schools. Jenny Levin (below right) says the state should send more money to local schools to reduce property taxes--and do it in part through a graduated income tax. Schools make up most of our property tax bills. Do you think our schools are really spending too much?

Have you noticed that Republican Darby Hills' yard signs are Democratic blue? Makes sense. Trump's MAGA red is so toxic this election that even Hills is, well, running for the hills. Vote for true blue Democrat Nabeela Syed in Illinois Senate 26.

We're making the big push for victory with only 41 days until Election Day. Indivisible Barrington rallied behind Democrats Nabeela Syed, Maria Peterson, Jenny Levin, Mary Mesa and Ted Mason Wednesday night. Change is coming.

Among the myriad differences between Maria Peterson and Marty McLaughlin, candidates for Illinois House Dist. 52, is this big one: He supports a Trump-sponsored program that would divert tax dollars to private schools--and she does not. McLaughlin backs the federal Educational Freedom Tax Credit that would allow people to make tax-exempt contributions to organizations funding these schools. He says choice is good. She calls it a voucher program by another name. So far, Illinois has not opted into this program--and Peterson wants to keep it that way. The two appeared at a League of Women Voters forum in Barrington Tuesday evening.
