"Electoral Politics Are Not A "Gateway Drug"", Sprout Distro, 2016

Written 10 years ago, after Bernie dropped out and endorsed Hillary, this text outlines the contradictions between electoralism and direct action. It argues convincingly that eloctoralism is mostly just attractive to people who already believe in electoralism being the solution to our problems.

The events which pressure the establishment to change are adversarial, often illegal, resistance to oppression and state violence. It was true at the time of writing and it's been thoroughly demonstrated in the ten years since. Our successes are on the backs of young, black men, some who are imprisoned or otherwise disenfranchised.

And what point is there in perpetuating this neoliberal, zionist empire anyway? We need fundamental change, and every day of genocide is unacceptable violence, unparalleled by any riot possible.

Our compliance and complicity with this system is an active choice. We must legitimize and support each other's resistance, and we must foster a supportive community for people who get sucked into the carceral system for resisting, like the Prairieland defendants and MN15. Our solidarity is boundless.

43/200 raised, a member sent them enough for the meds, they should be getting paid today, so hold off on sending more for now.....

A friend of the Mighty Skunk Ape reached out for help, they need 200 for prescriptions and transportation to work until friday because their car is down, they recently had a major knee injury so walking and biking are not options and there is no public transportation routes anywhwre near their home or job. They should be able to get the car fixed once they get their paycheck but the money spent on parts and rideshares left them unable to get their medicine which runs out on Thursday.

(they may have another transportation option through a coworker, if so the request drops to 140, we will update once we know). They have access to free breakfast and lunch at work, and housing is secure, so the prescriptions are the main concern.

We will update the post once this is filled...
