Indivisible Bellingham (MA) and Beyond wishes everyone a joyous and restful Labor Day. A holiday that is often synonymous with cookouts, and the end of summer, Labor Day was made a legal holiday in 1894 as a recognition of the power workers hold in our society.

The class divide in America has reached new heights, but it is not new–the ruling class have long sought to control and profit off of the working class. Our fight for progressive policies and candidates is part of a larger fight to redistribute wealth in this country and create a more just society for all.

We’ll be taking today to rest, then getting back to pushing for voter participation to make sure the voice of the people are heard over the drone of big donors in politics. Join us with drop-in postcarding each Saturday in September, group meetings on 9/9 and 9/23, and our monthly standout on 9/26.

Thank you to those who came out to our vigil this past Saturday to remember Lorenzo and Johan. It was a powerful gathering of remembrance and grief but also full of discussion around ways we can make a difference in our communities, including volunteering with LUCE and CASA.

This Saturday, we are gathering with Franklin’s CPOD to remember Lorenzo, Johan, Alex, Renee, and the many others whose lives have been taken by ICE. We are gathering to demonstrate our support for immigrants in our community and protest ICE operations across the country.

All are welcome to join us from 9-11am this Saturday 7/25 in front of Bellingham Town Hall. Participants are encouraged to bring signs calling for justice for ICE victims, calling for the removal and abolishment of ICE, and showing support for immigrants. Suggested phrases include:

“JUSTICE FOR LORENZO” /“JUSTICE FOR JOHAN”
“ICE OUT” / “END ICE” / “ABOLISH ICE”
“END MA DOC 287(g)”
“NO SECRET POLICE” / “INVESTIGATE ICE”
“IMMIGRANTS ARE WELCOME HERE” / “IMMIGRANTS MAKE AMERICA GREAT”
