Warm Hearts. Warm Students. | MCSD Coat Drive

Our District Teacher of the Year, Jessica Deaton, is leading a districtwide Coat Drive to help ensure our students have the warm clothing they need this winter!

From October 5–30, 2026, we invite our families, staff, churches, community partners, and friends of MCSD to join us in supporting this special initiative.

We are collecting new or gently used coats and new gloves, scarves, and hats in sizes 3T through Adult 4X. Gently used coats should be clean and in good condition, and donations may be dropped off at Bennettsville Primary School.

Every coat and winter accessory donated can make a difference for a student in our community.

Help us spread warmth throughout Marlboro County!

The City of Bennettsville is kicking off a series of Community Visioning Sessions designed to do two things: share information about the work happening in our community and hear from YOU about where we go next.

Our first conversation will feature NJIT's Cailyn Bruno as we focus on placemaking and how the places where we gather, play, shop, visit, and make memories contribute to the identity and quality of life of our community.

BENNETTSVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT ANNOUNCES RETURN OF K-9 UNIT TO ACTIVE SERVICE

The Bennettsville Police Department is pleased to announce that its K-9 Unit has returned to active service.

The program was temporarily paused while departmental personnel and resources were focused on maintaining essential patrol staffing and core law enforcement operations. Following that temporary pause, the department has restored this specialized resource as part of its continuing effort to strengthen operational readiness and officer safety.

Corporal Jake King and K-9 Shadow will serve as the department’s K-9 team. Their deployment will be conducted in accordance with applicable training, certifications, departmental policy, and operational needs.

The K-9 Unit provides the department with an additional law enforcement resource while enhancing its ability to respond effectively to the needs of officers and the community.

We are proud to welcome Corporal Jake King and K-9 Shadow back to K-9 service and look forward to their continued service to the City of Bennettsville.
