"I have been a part of Swagg since Fall of 2018. I previously served as the secretary and but have been the outreach coordinator for this academic year. My team and I focus on uploading relevant content to the page to keep y'all informed. I joined Swagg because I was looking for a community of like minded individuals within the Social Welfare department. My favorite event that Swagg has held was the SW undergrad mixer. It was great to be in community with faculty and my peers within the department. I majored in Social Welfare because I care about combatting social issues that disproportionately effect communities of color. The sw value that speaks to me is valuing the dignity and worth of a person. It's important to be mindful of differences and treat the people that come into your path with respect. I think it's a value that needs to be incorporated into every field, not just SW/ human service."

SWAGG Member Spotlight of the Week: Kenia D. from East Los Angeles
"I am a 4th year Social Welfare student with a minor in Ethnic Studies. I have been following SWAGG throughout my time at Cal but never officially became a member until the beginning of this semester. I decided to become a member and participating officer because I wanted to connect with other Social Welfare peers and to build community. I aim to work with at risk youth and survivors of crime while advocating for change and always remaining true to community outreach and advocacy. This semester I aim to support SWAGG as it aims to create a community in which individuals of similar majors can learn and strengthen their skills."
