TRUSTEE TIP TUESDAY

💵 CAN YOU SAVE JUST $5 THIS WEEK?

We hear it all the time: “I don’t have enough money to save.”

And we understand. When you’re living paycheck to paycheck, saving $100 or $500 can feel impossible.

But what if you didn’t start with $500? What if you started with just $5?

💰 Start small. Build the habit.

✔️ Save $5 this week and $10 next week.
✔️ Put away a little from an unexpected overtime check.
✔️ Set aside a few dollars when you can spend less on groceries.

It doesn’t have to be a lot. What matters is getting started!

Because eventually, life happens.

🚗 A flat tire or unexpected car repair.
💊 An unexpected prescription.
🏠 A higher-than-normal utility bill.
👟 Your child suddenly needs new shoes.

Even having $50 set aside can help turn an unexpected expense into a manageable inconvenience instead of a financial crisis.

🔑 HERE’S THE IMPORTANT PART: YOUR EMERGENCY FUND IS FOR EMERGENCIES.

That money isn’t extra spending money. It’s your safety net when life throws you a curveball.

❤️ At the Vigo Township Trustee’s Office, we understand that you can’t change your financial situation overnight. Building financial stability takes time, patience, and small, consistent steps.

You don’t have to save hundreds of dollars at once. You just have to start where you are.

$5 is better than $0.
$10 is better than $5.
And every dollar saved is progress worth celebrating!

Our goal is not just to help people through difficult times, but to encourage habits that can help them build a more financially stable future.

Start small. Keep going. Be proud of your progress.

Small steps today can make next month a little easier!

📊 Budget season is here!

But here’s something many people don’t realize: the budget isn’t created at the public hearing—it’s been months in the making.

At Vigo Township, budget planning is a year-round process. We look at spending, community needs and service demands.

The public hearing and adoption meeting are important opportunities for residents to ask questions, offer input, and understand where taxpayer dollars are going.

And remember—budgets can be amended during the year as needs change.

Your voice matters. Your tax dollars matter. Your participation matters.

🇺🇸 Remembering September 11, 2001 🇺🇸

Today, we pause to honor and remember the nearly 3,000 innocent lives lost in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

We remember the first responders who ran toward danger, the firefighters, police officers, paramedics, and everyday citizens who showed extraordinary courage and selflessness. We also remember the families and loved ones who continue to carry the loss.

Twenty-five years later, their stories and sacrifices remain a part of our nation’s history.

May we never forget the lives lost, the heroes who answered the call, and the unity and compassion that brought Americans together in the days that followed.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget. 🇺🇸
