My mother, Lowduster Young Paige. Her father was named Charlie Young and his only child. Her mother was Named Julia Young. She had 3 sisters: Jane (baby sister), Mary (oldest) and Carrie (middle). She has 1 brother name James. She married my father Otis Henry Paige, Sr and they born 9 children with only 8 survivals: Arthur Lee (deceased at birth), Arthur Lee (lived), Bettye Jane, Otis Henry, Jr., Lynda, Barbara Jean, Wanda Mae and Brenda Joyce. When she was young, her sister's children was trapped in a house fire, she and my brother, Otis Jr went in the burning house to attempt to save my Aunt Jane 9 children who was trapped in the back room with no escape all died. She and my brother Otis Jr suffered burns. The burns on her face like a horse shoe is from that fire that happened in the 50's. My father after marriage and was financially got able had a skin draft done to cover most of the scars. She had a 4th grade education; but she was known for her designs of Quits. She made the Road To The White House during the 50's from a contest she entered. It paid her $250.00 and landed her quit for display in the White House for that year. She knew the herbs of healing, she could cook chef wise. She worked many years at the Woodward Golf Country Club as a head Cook until my father retired her a few years after my birth. She also did work at Mrs. Florence in Brighton as a maid before the Country Club. She was a devoted wife, mother, born again believer, she took us to church weekly, loved by her community, church family and work often in the fields of helping others. She was tender hearted and loved children. She quited many quits during her season of life. I still have 7 toppings that I plan to finish and place them somewhere in her membrane.
