Calling Birmingham homeowners. If you live in an older home, you’re caring for a piece of our city’s history—and you know older homes come with real challenges like aging wiring/plumbing, drafts & high energy costs, roof/foundation issues, and “what to fix first?” decisions.
Join us at the HomeWise Expo on Sat, April 18 (10 AM–4 PM) at Bill Harris Arena for practical, homeowner-focused guidance and trusted local resources to help you protect your home and plan your next repair with more confidence.Calling Birmingham homeowners. It has been a real honor to serve as the
District 8 representative to the Birmingham City Council. Voters have decided new leadership. Former Councilor Steven Hoyt and I had a chance to congratulate Councilor-elect Sonja Smith last night and I will support her however I can in the transition weeks to come.

Celebrating the 14th birthday of CrossPlex while getting kiddos ready for back-to-school, together in community, was big fun!

Someone said service is the rent we pay for our time here on earth. It can also be great fun! I had great fun with Neighborhood Housing Services, HouseProud, and District 9 councilor Latanya Tate serving in Druid Hills last week.

The world is here, y’all! I’m at Santos coffee in Uptown with my new friends from an Australian police force. They’re participating in the games and some of their delegation will stick around to prepare to host the 2027 games in Perth, so you can start now to plan your 2027 vacation.

I had fun explaining okra and fried green tomatoes and where to find them done well in Birmingham. Be sure to check out the FREE games and greet people from all over the world. You are what makes Birmingham a special place!Birmingham City Council

Caught up with Habitat and the AL Dept of Insurance on Habitat’s Alabama state tour when they stopped by Rising - West Princeton to visit a project that delivered 6 beautiful new houses in District 8. These new homes are very close to a treasured Birmingham K-5 school, Princeton Academy. If you’d know someone who is interested in purchasing one of these homes, contact Greater Birmingham Habitat for Humanity.
