It has been a real honor to serve as the
District 8 representative to the Birmingham City Council. Voters have decided new leadership. Former Councilor Steven Hoyt and I had a chance to congratulate Councilor-elect Sonja Smith last night and I will support her however I can in the transition weeks to come.

Thanks to everyone who joined City Council District 8, Magic City Blues Society and Friends of Rickwood for Blues at the Ballpark this past Sunday! It was a perfect bluesy afternoon.

Someone said service is the rent we pay for our time here on earth. It can also be great fun! I had great fun with Neighborhood Housing Services, HouseProud, and District 9 councilor Latanya Tate serving in Druid Hills last week.

The world is here, y’all! I’m at Santos coffee in Uptown with my new friends from an Australian police force. They’re participating in the games and some of their delegation will stick around to prepare to host the 2027 games in Perth, so you can start now to plan your 2027 vacation.
