Although the election didn't go the way I hoped, I remain committed to this district and this city and I intend to continue to the things I've been doing over the years to push this city forward no matter who wins. With that being said, I want to encourage you all to go to the polls and vote for Sonja Smith. I believe she cares about the whole district and will push to bring more investment in district 8.

There are politicians and there are people who get into politics to make a difference. Birmingham has plenty of politicians who are experts at getting elected. District 8 you have the opportunity to finally put somebody in place that understands and cares about the needs of this community. If you want more of what you've always gotten there are several politicians to choose from. If you're tired of seeing District 8 get overlooked and these dilapidated structures and parks continue to be ignored, when they could be redevelop or reimagined into real assets for the city there's only one choice: Delk for District 8
So it was brought to my attention this weekend that there's a program available here that teaches people how to win elections. That would explain why these politicians sound the same, but it begs the question, "Why isn't there a class to teach people how to be effective leaders?" I guess some things just can't be taught.
I noticed a few of my signs have been taken down. I wonder what that's about.

Does anybody remember this building actually being used? I barely do. It's been sitting unused for decades. There are 2 exits off I-20 5 minutes from downtown that will take you directly to this property. That's the definition of prime real estate, but we're just letting this building sit. Imagine the all the things we don't have in the city limits that could be put right there. Elect me and I'll push for maximizing the use of all the great assets of District 8. We've been neglected for far too long. It time we had somebody at the table willing to speak up for us.
I am Eric Delk and I am pleased to announce my candidacy for city council representing district 8. I grew up in Belview Heights, attended Central Park Elementary School, Brown Middle School, and Ensley Magnet High School. I am district 8 through and through and, like many of you, I have witnessed the steady decline of the area over the past 40 years or so. Well, it's time to let Birmingham know that district 8 is here and we have something to say. District 8 is a diamond in the rough and it's time we had leadership that promotes all the great things we have to offer this city. I want to hear what you think. What are your concerns?
