This is my 2023 quilt, Sunshine on a Cloudy Day. I created it as a tribute to Ukraine, and even more specifically, to my dear quilting friends in Ukraine. You’ll notice the yellow and blue transparent swaths across the bottom representing their colors of Ukraine. Of course the sunflower is their symbol. And the red swath represents the blood of the innocents. This quilt has been acquisitioned by the international quilt museum, one of five quilts that I have in that collection. It’s a huge honor.

Guardianship 101: What You Need to Know

🛡️What is a guardianship?
A guardianship is a legal process where a court appoints someone to make personal and/or medical decisions for an adult who can no longer make them independently—often due to illness, injury, or disability.
This could include:
✔️ Making medical decisions
✔️ Choosing a place to live
✔️ Overseeing daily care

Unlike a Power of Attorney, guardianship is typically a last resort—used when no planning documents are in place and the person cannot make safe decisions on their own.

📌Pro tip: Advance directives and healthcare proxies can often help avoid the need for guardianship.
