🚨 Scam Alert – Please Stay Vigilant 🚨
The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office is aware of an ongoing scam circulating in our community. We would like to remind residents that we will NEVER call you regarding citations, unpaid warrants, or direct you to deliver money to any location.
Scammers have recently been sending text messages with fraudulent paperwork to make their demands appear legitimate. They may instruct individuals to go to an “approved kiosk” to deposit money before coming to the Sheriff’s Office, and some victims have reported being told they cannot hang up and must keep an open line with the scammer.
The photos shown below are images the scammers have used in an attempt to convince citizens that the fraudulent warrant information is real.
Please remember:
- Do NOT send money, there are no "approved kiosks", and law enforcement will NEVER ask you to pay at a "Bonding Transaction Center - (BTC)".
- Do NOT provide personal information.
- Do NOT remain on the line with anyone demanding payment.
The Cumberland County Sheriffs Office and law enforcement will NEVER ask for money, gift cards etc over the phone.
Always hang up the phone and report to your local police department or Sheriff's Office.
If something seems suspicious, it likely is. Stay alert and aware.
To report a suspicious call or text, you can contact the Sheriff's Office at (856) 451‑4449 x 25100 or reach out to your local police department.
Spread the word to friends and family who might not be on social media.
