I am so proud and feel so fortunate to have Dr. Hiel lead our district! Her leadership is outstanding and her focus is always centered on our students. She is so deserving of this honor!! 🍎

Exciting news! Osseo Area Schools' very own superintendent, Dr. Kim Hiel, has been announced as Superintendent of the Year for 2027 by the Minnesota Association of School Administrators (MASA).

“Dr. Hiel's leadership reflects a deep commitment to ensuring every student has access to the opportunities and support they need to succeed. Her ability to bring people together, build trust and navigate complex challenges demonstrates the importance of listening and collaboration in public education,” said MASA Executive Director Matt Hillmann.

🚨Vote YES for More Funding to Minnesota Public Schools!!!

🗳️ Take a moment with me to talk about the constitutional amendment on your ballot this year: modernizing the calculation used to distribute funds to Minnesota public schools.

🏫 School districts across Minnesota, including my home district (Osseo Area Schools), rely on state funding to provide the programs and services students need to succeed. What if we could increase that funding at no cost to taxpayers?

💰 The Permanent School Fund, built from school trust lands, now holds more than $2.3 billion. Under the current formula, only a small share reaches classrooms each year, while the balance keeps growing untouched. This amendment updates the distribution formula so more of that money goes to students, while still protecting the fund’s long-term value. It doesn’t raise taxes, and it passed the Legislature with bipartisan support.

✍️ Here’s the part that surprises people: an amendment needs a majority of everyone who votes in the election, so leaving the question blank on your ballot counts the same as a NO vote. Find the amendment question and mark YES.

When our local schools thrive, our communities thrive.

✅ Please join me in voting YES for Minnesota students, and tell a friend to do the same.

Thank you Rose Tonn , write-in candidate for Maple Grove Mayor!!!

Tonight Park Center, Osseo and Maple Grove had their homecoming games and the cherry on top was the Hispanic Heritage month event at Northview (so well done)! Such a fun night, so much school spirit and super fun hanging out with Tanya Prince, Osseo School Board ISD 279 and Thomas Brooks: District 279 School Board and my little sidekick son🤣! 💚💛♥️🧡🖤

September 11 is Patriot Day in the United States. On this 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, Osseo Area Schools reflects on the tragic events and the heroism of so many on that day.

The district invites all members of our school community to pause today and honor the lives lost, the incredible bravery of those who risked their lives to help others, and the importance of coming together as one community.

Today would have been my dad’s 73rd birthday. ❤️

I ran for school board to carry on his legacy. My dad believed that education was the key to unlocking dreams.

Education is absolutely about academics, but it is also about creating belonging, possibility, and believing that every student has the ability to achieve their dreams.

So, on his birthday, I want to lift up someone who embodies the heart of education: my friend, Yvette Hoffman.

Through one of the scariest and most horrific events imaginable, Yvette has persevered and found her way back home to Fernbrook—back to the students she cares so deeply about. She represents what I believe education is about…creating spaces where young people feel safe, welcomed, supported and believed in.

I am so grateful for Yvette, for the heart she brings to our students, and for the privilege of calling her and her husband, Senator John Hoffman, friends.

As I remember my dad today, I’m reminded that his legacy continues to be lived out through people like Yvette. We are so lucky to have her on our district.

🍎

Yvette Hoffman and her family survived an assassination attempt in their home in June 2025. Now, Yvette is back at work, healing in the hallways of kindergarten at Fernbrook Elementary School. “From killing to kindergarten. And how do you merge the two? But I'm grateful I'm here and that I can come back and begin again,” she told CCX News.
