Hypovolemic shock is one of the most common causes — but it’s not always just “bleeding you can see.” Internal bleeding, dehydration, and fluid loss can all lead to the same problem: loss of circulating volume.
Look at the full picture:
Skin signs. Heart rate. Blood pressure. Mental status. Mechanism of injury. Patient history. Overall presentation.
And remember:
Hypovolemic shock is usually cold and clammy — but the source of fluid loss isn’t always obvious.
External bleeding is easy to spot.
Internal bleeding is not.
Don’t guess. Assess.
