Neófita del amor (Para Raiza Larios)
Raiza, rosa escarlata, neófita del amor,
la noche libera tu capa de ensueño,
en hoteles y bares pregonas relatos
de un tiempo vivido con dientes y uñas.
Unión del descaro y del pozo hondo,
novia de cuervos y horizontes verdes,
seduces a la luna con tu baile imposible,
regalas versos al yonki argonauta.
En la cuerda de lo banal a lo profundo,
Raiza, el cínico espera tu salto enorme,
tu alma purpura de pachulí y de seda,
tu inspirada plática de caricias y ojos.
Náufragos somos en un pozo negro,
la sangre en los dientes, el olor a fresnos,
¿recuerdas Raiza? En pastos nocturnos
soplamos vida en el pulmón eterno.
Ahora la memoria nos acecha Raiza,
con su agenda de pájaros migrantes,
hay momentos grabados en el aura
y cuerdas que el tiempo no sabe desatar.
Ahí reside lo infinito, en tu maleta
de historias y amores inconclusos,
en las pieles lisas que dibujaste
retratos de amor y de esperanza.

The morning after the plague (For Misha Rees)
“And the silence ripeness
and the ripeness all.”
W.H Auden
Waltzing across the tightrope
of silence
she commutes across the city,
wondering
if it’s loneliness or quietude
that fuels
the unforeseen dysphoria.
Spectres
return in the void of traffic,
memories
of romance with an ocean
-solitude
at its ominous stretch-.
Were they right,
the gabby old masters?
Silence
is ripeness
and ripeness all.
Pining for a housebound child
to laugh,
she wonders whether music leads
to rest notes
or does it derive from voids
and silence?
Trees sway like football louts
on acid,
a girl smokes with a mask half-on,
magpies shriek,
it’s like thunder on a plate.
She writes,
who wouldn’t give an arm,
a leg,
to hear the bedlam again,
the wolf in a tie,
the racket of London?!

What is a personalised poem?
Basically it is a poem inspired by an individual, a specific experience, feeling or memory.
It can also be a poem about a specific subject or sensation determined by the person commissioning the poem. I have had orders for poems about sons, mothers, passions, anxieties, friendships, menstrual periods and wars, Obviously I write these poems with my own particular aesthetic and voice.
The idea is for people to sponsor poetry and to do so receiving a unique and absolutely inimitable piece of art for a very insignificant amount of money.
Minimum 10 pounds, but you can donate what you see fit.
Who will write the poem? For the moment me. Gabriel Moreno. I am bilingual poet from Gibraltar with 7 books of poems published in both Spain and England. For credentials please check my bio but most importantly read some of my poems.
