On this solemn Memorial Day, we remember and honor the brave American heroes who gave their last full measure of devotion so we could live in freedom.

Today, I stood with my colleague Assemblywoman Jaime Williams in support of her legislation, Assembly bill number 6955C, to crack down on the placement of lithium-ion battery storage facilities in residential neighborhoods.

Last year, I stood with residents in my district to protest a proposed lithium-ion storage site on McDonald Avenue because our communities should not be forced to live next to facilities that raise serious safety and quality-of-life concerns.

Residential neighborhoods are for families, not industrial-scale battery storage operations. I am proud to co-sponsor this legislation (A6955C) to help protect communities across New York State and ensure local residents have a voice when projects like these are proposed in their neighborhoods.

Thank you to Brooklyn's own Senator Steve Chan the Man for his acknowledgement of the great work our EMS workers do in NYC and all over New York State.
