Happy new year Fort Greene! Sharing a few pictures of the library's interior as renovation progresses (more at the link!). We continue to look forward to reopening in our new space and welcoming you all back!

BFA’s renovation and expansion of the Walt Whitman Branch Library for Brooklyn Public Library has now broken ground following years of community outreach, planning, and design. The project entails restoration of the building’s historic 1908 reading room, a new teen room on the mezzanine level, a complete renovation of the basement for public amenity spaces and staff offices, and an addition comprising an elevator and glass-enclosed stair. Outside, a tranquil reading garden will welcome the library’s Fort Greene community. Employing energy-efficient mechanical systems, the facility is designed to achieve LEED Gold certification.
