TONGA Oct ‘03- Aug ‘25 💔
It’s been a very challenging month at
With very heavy hearts we made the decision to euthanise King Tonga on 18th August 2025.
He was physically deteriorating and stopped eating. We believed he was starting to suffer. It was his time and our duty to gift him a peaceful and dignified passing.
Then that same evening our Facebook got hacked & we lost all our 2 million plus followers.
We wanted to try to get all our followers back before we announced Tongas passing to our loyal community.
We have so far been unsuccessful.
I personally apologise for the inconsistency of posting recently, losing the irreplaceable Tonga & then all our followers & potential lion income took its toll momentarily.
Our shining light from all this is that we know Tonga will be happier elsewhere with his best buddies and without his old aching body.
Lions have such strong hearts which, under protection, can keep beating beyond the physical capabilities of their old bodies. Nature has a violent solution for this but sanctuary doesn’t. So he lived well beyond his wild years and he was very much loved and cherished.
Thank you for all the lovely messages & comments about Tonga, it means the world that he was so loved around the world.
It didn’t sit well with us that we had to wait a while to tell you guys ❤️🩹 but our following has still not been restored and we didn’t want to wait any longer.
