SAVE OUR GROCERY STORE! -Please share
For all small-town grocery stores, times are really tough right now. Freight costs are very high and grocery costs have gone up. At your member-owned Root River Market, we have already worked extremely hard to cut expenses as much as possible: negotiating lower credit card processing rates and charging a fee for credit card transactions, substantially reducing the laundry and cleaning bill, having flyers in-store only instead of inserting them in the newspaper, and running very lean on staff. Yet there are still major expenses that come up: property taxes and yet another compressor that must be fixed.
We know that it’s tough for everyone right now, and we strive to keep our prices as affordable as possible.
Although expenses are down, revenue is significantly lower than previous years. Summer is normally our best time, and yet we are struggling. We need your help to continue to serve as Houston’s grocery store in these tough times.
We know that if you are reading this, you are likely one of our regular customers. THANK YOU for your support!! We ask you to spread the word to your neighbors and friends that they need to vote with their money if they want to see a grocery store continue to survive in Houston. Where they spend their money is what they are “voting for,” so do they just want big grocery stores in La Crosse? Or do they want a grocery store in Houston also?
We realize we can’t supply everything that everyone needs. We just ask that people who don’t shop here start shopping here, and that those who do shop here buy a little more.
A huge THANK YOU to the businesses who regularly purchase groceries at the Root River Market, including the American Legion, Barista’s Coffee House, JT’s Bar & Grill and Valley View Healthcare & Rehab.
