We wrapped up Wednesday’s town hall tour in Childress, with another good turnout and plenty to talk about.

One of the highlights for me was hearing about the wildfire aircraft now ready to respond when they’re needed. It’s good to see legislation we worked on in Austin being put into action back home.

Thank you, Childress County, for coming out and spending the afternoon with me.

Enjoyed visiting with folks in Collingsworth County this week. A special thank you to the Collingsworth County Museum for once again giving us such a great place to hold our town hall.

We talked about what to expect in the 90th Legislature, including our appraisal system, tackling interoperability and the environmental impacts that come with the growth of data centers.

Thank you to everyone who came out.

Kicked off a round of town halls in Wheeler yesterday morning.

We covered priorities for the 90th Legislature, property taxes, disaster preparedness and interoperability, along with some of the big issues facing Texas as data centers drive new demand for electricity and transmission.

I especially enjoyed hearing from a constituent who has been watching our committee hearings and following along on the House floor. Folks are paying attention.

Thank you, Wheeler County, for the conversation and the hospitality.

Two busy days of State Affairs hearings in Austin this week.

Monday we spent a lot of time on disaster response and something I’ve been pushing for since the Panhandle wildfires: making sure our first responders can communicate with each other in an emergency. We heard from state agencies, local officials, law enforcement, fire and EMS.

Yesterday we discussed protecting kids on online gaming platforms, including who they can communicate with, parental controls, and the responsibility these companies have for what happens on their platforms. We also heard testimony on prediction markets and event contracts.

These interim hearings are where we dig into details before the Legislature comes back in January.
