🧡 You never know who a young person experiencing homelessness may grow up to become.

With November being National Homeless Youth Awareness Month, we wanted to revisit a conversation our Executive Director attended in April 2025.

During the Women Who Lead Mixer, Dr. Amy Acton shared her experiences growing up without stable housing, including moving 18 times over 12 years and spending a winter living in a tent.

Years later, she became a physician and served as Ohio’s Director of Health.

Think about how much life happened between those two chapters of her story.

At Chasing Hope House, we work with young people who are still writing their own stories. Some are finishing high school without a permanent place to live. Some are working while trying to figure out where they’ll sleep that night. Others are navigating adulthood without the family support many of us take for granted.

We have no idea what each of their futures will hold.

But we know their current circumstances shouldn’t get to make that decision for them.

Not every young person will become a doctor or hold a prestigious title, nor should they have to. We simply want them to have the same chance to pursue their goals as anyone else.

As we approach National Homeless Youth Awareness Month, we hope you’ll take a moment to think about the young people in our own communities whose circumstances may be difficult today, but whose stories are far from finished.

They deserve the chance to find out what’s next. 🧡

Because financial independence isn’t something we all just know—it’s something we learn. 💛

🧡 Tonight, a young man in his senior year of high school will sleep on an air mattress in his very own apartment.

And we couldn’t be more grateful.

For the past two weeks, he’s been living in a motel while continuing to show up for school AND work. No transportation. No phone. No support system outside of his school. And with checkout approaching tomorrow morning, he had absolutely no idea where he would go next.

Tonight, we handed him his keys. 🏠🧡

I wish you could have witnessed the pure shock, excitement, and joy on his face.

When we mentioned that he would need curtains for his windows, he looked at us and asked, “I have windows?”

When we talked about getting groceries for his refrigerator, he asked, “I can go in the kitchen?”

He even asked if there was a shower somewhere in the building, not realizing he had his very own bathroom!

And of all the things he could be excited about?

He just wants to cook himself some eggs. 🥹🧡

Something so simple. Something many of us take for granted. But to this young man, it means EVERYTHING.

A door that locks. A kitchen to cook in. A shower of his own. A safe place to lay his head. And the peace of knowing where he’ll wake up tomorrow.

And through all of this uncertainty, he NEVER stopped showing up for school or work.

Just imagine trying to finish your senior year while worrying about where you’re going to sleep at night.

THIS is why Chasing Hope House exists.

This is why we continue working with our schools, landlords, community partners, and supporters to make sure young people aren’t left to figure these situations out alone.

There are students sitting in classrooms throughout our community carrying burdens most of us know nothing about. Some are working jobs, maintaining their grades, and doing everything they can just to make it to graduation.

And sometimes, all they need is someone willing to step in and help them get there.

We’re incredibly thankful for everyone who continues to support the work we’re doing at Chasing Hope House.

The only thing we’ve asked of this young man in return?

A ticket to his graduation. 🎓🧡

Because you better believe we plan to be there cheering him on!

💜 Empowered Women Empower Communities! 💜

This morning, leadership from Chasing Hope House had the pleasure of attending Women's Impact, Inc.’s 2026 Empowerment Day!

This year’s theme, “Embracing Your Journey: Navigating Leadership at Every Stage,” was a meaningful reminder that leadership is a continuous journey of growth, courage, connection, and purpose.

As we continue building Chasing Hope House and expanding opportunities for vulnerable youth and families in our community, we recognize the importance of surrounding ourselves with inspiring women, sharing experiences, and building relationships that create lasting impact.

A special thank you to Women’s Impact, Inc. for bringing together so many incredible women leaders throughout our community!

💜 When women come together to inspire, support, and uplift one another, amazing things happen!
