Maine GOP Chairman Jim Deyermond responds to today's attack on Bobby Charles and his response:

“I want to thank Bobby Charles for the compassion he showed in response to his sister’s criticism. She has clearly experienced some pain in her life and has now told her story,” said Chairman Deyermond.

“Bobby’s response, compassionate and transparent, is not only the right way to address this situation, but it is what Maine needs in a Governor,” Deyermond continued.

“In fact, a Governor who would come out and show compassion while transparently discussing problems that have been kept hidden would be a dramatic improvement from the reign of Hannah Pingree and Janet Mills.”

“I hope there are no left-wing operatives behind today’s attack, because it appears to have backfired and it would be a shame if this lady was subjected to even more distress from being forced into the public eye,” said Deyermond.

“I am of the view that we’re gaining on her every day,” Charles said, at a town hall event in Caribou. Polls have shown the Republican trailing Democrat Hannah Pingree by double digits.

The NRA's political arm gave Charles an "AQ" rating and gave Democrat Hannah Pingree an "F."

Accountability shouldn’t end on Election Day.

One of the frustrations I hear repeatedly is that politicians make promises during campaign season, get elected, and then voters hear from them again when it’s time for another election.

I don’t think representative government is supposed to work that way.

A State Representative casts hundreds of votes that affect taxes, spending, energy, education, businesses, and individual rights. The people back home should be able to know what their representative is doing—and why.

That means reading legislation before voting on it. Asking what it costs and who pays for it. Questioning spending instead of automatically approving it. Being willing to vote against your own party when principle or the interests of your district require it. And being accessible enough that constituents can ask questions and get a straight answer.

It also means admitting when you get something wrong.

I’ve tried to approach local government that way, and it’s the same standard I would bring to Augusta.

I won’t promise that I can single-handedly fix state government. No representative can. What I can promise is that I’ll take seriously the authority entrusted to me, explain my decisions, and remember that the seat belongs to the people of District 7—not the person temporarily occupying it.

Government accountability starts with representatives who remember who they work for.

Does your electric bill feel "beneficial"? 💸

Open up your latest statement from Central Maine Power or Versant Power and ask yourself if the amount you are paying feels like a benefit.

If Maine Democrats have to label it "Beneficial," it’s probably because the reality isn't. ❌

Meet one of their favorite buzzwords: "Beneficial Electrification."

Augusta politicians love to use this slick phrase to cover up Maine's irresponsible energy plan. It is classic, textbook political doublespeak—using words that sound progressive and eco-friendly to disguise an expensive reality.

There is nothing "beneficial" about top-down policies that drive up utility costs, trap ratepayers with bad contracts, and leave everyday Maine families to choose between heating their homes or keeping the lights on.

Stop letting the marketing departments hide the true cost of their agenda. Let's call it what it is: corporate greenwashing at the expense of Mainers. 🛑🔌
