Comrades,
It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that I share the news of the passing of our fellow Comrade and dear friend, James Parker. While the circumstances surrounding his passing are still being learned, several of our fellow members have confirmed this heartbreaking news.
At this time, no information regarding funeral or memorial services has been announced. As those details become available, we will ensure they are shared with the Chapter.
We ask each of you to join us in lifting James's family and loved ones up in prayer during this incredibly difficult time. May God's mercy, grace, and everlasting love bring them peace and comfort as they mourn his loss. And may we, as his brothers and sisters in service, stand with them in their grief, remembering that the bonds of comradeship do not end with our time here on earth.
James was far more than a member of our Chapter. He was a dedicated servant to his fellow veterans, a man of integrity, and a valued part of our DAV family. His leadership and commitment were instrumental in organizing our Chapter Service Officers and ensuring that the important work of serving our fellow veterans continued. He gave freely of his time, his knowledge, and his heart to a cause greater than himself. His contributions will leave a lasting mark on our Chapter, and his absence will be deeply felt.
I had the privilege and honor of working closely with Comrade Parker, and I can say personally that his passing has affected me greatly. I know many of you will share that sense of loss. I will remember not only his dedication to our mission but also his character, his friendship, and his unwavering faith.
In moments such as these, we find comfort in the Word of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ:
"Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope."

James was a man of God, a man of faith, and a man who lived his convictions through service to others. I take comfort in knowing that our grief is not without hope. His example reminds me that a life well lived is not measured simply by the years we are given, but by the lives we touch, the burdens we help carry, and the good we leave behind.
We will strive to honor his memory by following that example, continuing the work he believed in, and seeking each day to become a better man through faith and service.
Rest in peace, Brother Parker. Your duty here is done, but your legacy of service will live on in all of us. You will not be forgotten.
