Today is Support Your Local Chamber of Commerce Day! But what does a local Chamber of Commerce actually mean for Polk County residents?

It can mean more opportunities to find a job close to home. More places to shop, eat and find the services families need. More ways for young people to explore careers and build their futures right here in the community.

From supporting local businesses and encouraging economic growth to connecting students with community leaders through programs like Youth Leadership Polk, the Polk County Chamber of Commerce works to help make those opportunities possible.

We recognize the Polk County Chamber of Commerce for its contributions to our community.

Because a thriving Polk County isn't just about the businesses that operate here. It's about the people who live, work and raise their families here.

Today is National Day on Writing. Polk County's present and past are rich with the worth of words:

📚 FERST Readers: Celebrated distributing its 100,000th free book to Polk County children in 2026.

🏆 Polk School District: 1st place in "Ready, Set, Read!", fall 2025, part of statewide "Let's Read, Georgia" initiative

✍ Rockmart Cultural Arts Center: PAL (Poetry, Art, and Literature) classes

📜 Polk County Historical Society: Preserving the county's history through archives and historical records. Our county's notable voices also include Sterling Holloway and author Betty Reynolds Cobb.

📖 Sara Hightower Regional Library System: Named after Cedartown native whose groundbreaking Bookmobile services helped bring books to rural Georgia. Today, Cedartown and Rockmart's respective libraries continue that legacy.

Whether you're writing something of your own or discovering the words of others, we hope you'll take a moment today to appreciate the extraordinary gift of the written word.
