On September 18, 2026, at approximately 1300 hours, detectives and deputies with the Hickman County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at a residence located near Hwy 7 and Beach Valley. Kerry Woodard was taken into custody and is facing charges of sexual exploitation of a minor. This investigation is currently active, ongoing, and additional charges are anticipated as the investigation continues.

We would like to sincerely thank the citizens of our community who continue to provide information and share concerns with our office. Your willingness to speak up and provide information plays an important role in helping our deputies and detectives keep Hickman County safe. Also thanks to our counter law enforcement partners at Homeland Security and FBI for providing resources.

Twenty-five years later, we still remember the nearly 3,000 innocent lives taken, the first responders who ran toward danger while others were running away, and the families who were forever changed that day.

We remember the courage, sacrifice, and unity displayed in the days that followed. We remember the firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, military members, and ordinary citizens who answered the call to help.

May we never forget those we lost, those who served, and the families who continue to carry their loss.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.

Tomorrow, August 3, kicks off the 2026–2027 school year, with a half day and then students return August 5 for full days. That means school zones are back in effect and will be enforced. Expect heavier traffic in the mornings and afternoons as everyone gets back into the routine. Please slow down, watch for kids, and give yourself a little extra time to get where you’re going.
