Shoutout to the City of Roxboro Police Department for a job well done. Oh yeah to my boy Tony A Dixon for holding it down in that heat. The traffic plan on the first day of the new Chick-fil-A was executed smoothly and efficiently. Great work keeping everything safe and organized! Proud of the support our community showed on today.

Tonight, I send my deepest condolences to the family of former 2nd Lady of Virginia Dr. Cerina Fairfax, whose life was tragically taken in a domestic violence incident.
My heart and prayers are especially with her children, who now face life without their mother. May they find strength, comfort, and peace in the days ahead.
Out of respect for her life and legacy, I will not speak the name of the individual responsible. Tonight is about honoring her, lifting up her loved ones, and grieving this profound loss.

Happy Retirement Chief 🔥
I wanted to take a moment to reflect and express my sincere gratitude to Roxboro Fire Department Deputy Chief Chris Robinson for his faithful and dedicated servant leadership over the past 30 years.
I first met Chief Robinson years ago while attending Stories Creek alongside his children—his daughter and I are about the same age. Back then, just like the late Chief Johnny Gentry, I thought they were the coolest men around simply because they drove fire trucks. What they likely never realized is that their example played a major role in inspiring my love for this profession.
Growing up, whenever I heard a siren coming from Olive Hill heading toward the city, I knew it was Chief Robinson responding to a call. My brothers and I would run to the road just to wave. No matter the situation, the time of day, or the circumstances, Chief Robinson has always carried himself with respect, humility, and compassion.
To his wife Wendy, his children, and the true loves of his life, his grandchildren thank you for sharing him with our community for the past three decades. From interrupted dinners and missed games to late-night calls, your sacrifice has not gone unnoticed and is deeply appreciated.
On behalf of the Wallace family, thank you, Chief Robinson, for your service, your leadership, and your lasting impact on this community.

This past week, our public safety community has endured several heartbreaking losses. We laid to rest a Durham Emergency Communications Officer, a member of the North Carolina Highway Patrol, and just last evening our extended public safety family experienced yet another tragedy in our neighboring county of Caswell.
Today, I ask that you please keep the family of Cpl. Chandler Clayton, son of retired North Carolina Highway Patrolman Billy Clayton, along with Sheriff Tony Durden and the members of the Caswell County Sheriff’s Office in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.
May we continue to stand together in support of those who serve and the families who sacrifice so much alongside them. 🙏🖤

As we prepare for whatever Mother Nature may bring, please take time today to ensure you and your family are ready. Our county is currently under a Level 4 out of 5 weather advisory, and forecasts indicate the possibility of heavy winds, hail, and significant rainfall.
Please take a few moments to prepare by:
• Charging all electronic devices
• Making sure you have flashlights and batteries available
• Securing plants, outdoor furniture, and other loose items in your yard
• Reviewing your emergency plans with your household
During the weather event expected Monday, March 16, 2026, we encourage everyone to shelter in place and avoid unnecessary travel until conditions are safe. Staying off the roads helps prevent additional hazards and allows our first responders to focus on emergencies where they are needed most.
Please continue to monitor your local news stations and official weather updates for the latest information and instructions.
Stay safe, stay prepared, and look out for one another. 🌧️🌪️

The past 48 hours have been especially challenging balancing work, children, and the many demands of life. Last night, my heart grew heavier as I learned of the passing of someone deeply dear to me, a man who had known me since birth and who never stopped encouraging me, even when I was headed in the wrong direction.
As a teenager and young adult, I often think back to the days my cousin Solomon and I would spend hanging around the Sheriff’s Office, just to go see Mr. Womack. He wasn’t just a preacher or a magistrate, he was a father figure to so many. He would correct you, encourage you, and make the hard decisions necessary to keep you out of a body bag or a jail cell. His love was firm, his guidance intentional, and his impact undeniable.
Even after his retirement, I continued to call him “Magistrate.” I reminded him often that I would always address him by his title, because it was a position anchored not just in service, but in his anointing. When I first heard the news, I prayed it wasn’t true. Just a few weeks ago, as he was returning home from a doctor’s appointment, I was able to speak to him briefly, and for that moment, I thank God.
Mr. Womack, thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you poured into my life and into this community. I love you, Magistrate. This is a different kind of hurt.
Yet, even in grief, I hold on to the promise of God’s Word: “Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth…” (Revelation 21:1). I find comfort knowing that this goodbye is not the end, but a transition into eternal peace.
Rest well, and thanks for the company 🥹💔

Black History Recognition đź–¤
The Late City Councilman Bryd Blackwell
A pastor for over 35 years, Mr. Blackwell was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a special advocate for our senior citizens, having served as the City's representative to the Senior Center Advisory Board, among other organizations. He was a special friend to me personally with his stately demeanor and ever-present love for the community. His sweet spirit and genuine love for the people is missed greatly đź–¤

Today, I pause to honor three remarkable women whose contributions extend far beyond their families and into the heart of our community, Mayor Cynthia Petty, Mayor Pro Tem Outlaw, and Durham District Court Judge Dorothy Mitchell. Their leadership, service, and unwavering commitment exemplify Black excellence and continue to inspire generations to come.

On this first day of Black History Month, I would like to pay tribute to a man from the community where I grew up, someone who paved the way for many men and women of color. Today, we honor and recognize the life and legacy of Mr. Doc Ramsey, the first African American Deputy Sheriff of Person County.
Because of his dedication, courage, and commitment to service, individuals such as J.C. Bailey, Cynthia Petty, Dennis Allen, Daryl Winstead, Ray Pulliam, Donald Daye, Anthony Cunningham, and so many others were given the opportunity to serve this county.
Thank you, Mr. Doc Ramsey. Your legacy lives on, and we honor you today.
Thank you to our County and City officials, department heads, Emergency Management team, local volunteers, and everyone who played a role in establishing shelters, staffing them, and helping transport elderly and disabled residents who needed these vital resources. Your compassion, teamwork, and dedication truly made a difference in the lives of so many during this time.
