π FIRE PREVENTION MONTH 2026 π
For Tools and Rides, Charge Outside!
This Fire Prevention Week, the Chardon Fire Department is joining the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) to remind our community about the importance of lithium-ion battery safety!
π Did you know? Lithium-ion batteries power many of the devices we use every day, including phones, tablets, power tools, e-bikes, and scooters. When these batteries are damaged, improperly used, or charged unsafely, they can pose a serious fire risk.
π Help keep your home and family safe:
β
Charge e-bikes, scooters, and other battery-powered equipment outdoors in a safe, designated area when possible.
β
Always use the charger designed for your device.
β
Keep batteries away from exits, doorways, and anything that could catch fire.
β
Never charge damaged, swollen, or overheating batteries.
β
Stop using a battery if you notice an unusual odor, leaking, excessive heat, or strange noises.
β
Follow the manufacturer's instructions for safe charging and storage.
Small action. Big impact. A few simple charging habits can help prevent fires and protect the people and places you love.
