On May 4th, the Town of Ranlo officially broke ground on the South Ranlo Waterline Project at Gardin Park, marking a major investment in our community’s infrastructure.
Ranlo has secured a combined $5 million in state and federal grant funding to support this project, which will bring critical upgrades to several areas in South Ranlo. These improvements will enhance water flow, increase reliability, and better serve the neighborhoods impacted. Phase I is already underway, running from Rhyne Place to East Long Avenue, with additional phases to follow.
We’re especially grateful to Congressman Tim Moore and his office for helping secure federal funding, including working to fund an additional $1.8 million, and for their continued efforts to bring resources back to the 14th District to support projects like this.
During the ceremony, Mayor Corey Creech welcomed attendees, followed by remarks from Mayor Pro Tem Robin Conner, Congressman Tim Moore, and Ranlo resident Gordy Neely, who spoke to what this project means for the community. For some areas, this marks the first time in history that residents will see fire hydrants.
As work continues, we look forward to the long-term improvements this project will bring to residents across Ranlo, North Carolina!

Public Notice: Stage II Water Conservation – Mandatory Reductions
Due to ongoing drought conditions, the Catawba Wateree Water Management Group (CWWMG) has declared Stage II – Mandatory Water Conservation Measures, effective May 1, 2026.
The Town of Ranlo is required to reduce water usage by approximately 10%. To meet this goal, we kindly ask for the following limited water usage for all customers:
Limit Outdoor Water Use:
– Lawn irrigation to two (2) days per week. Irrigation should be between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM
– Washing of vehicles at home (commercial car washes are encouraged)
– Washing of driveways, sidewalks, or parking areas
– Filling or refilling swimming pools
– Operation of ornamental fountains without recirculation systems
Required Conservation Measures:
– Repair all leaks (faucets, toilets, irrigation systems) promptly
– Limit water use for non-essential purposes
– Restaurants are encouraged to serve water only upon request
– Businesses should reduce non-essential water usage where possible
Town Operations:
– The Town splash pad will remain closed until further notice
– Washing of Town vehicles has been suspended
– Public Works crews are prioritizing all water leaks as emergency repairs
These measures are necessary to preserve our water supply and maintain system reliability during drought conditions. Additional restrictions may be implemented if conditions worsen.
We appreciate your cooperation and commitment to conserving water.

Due to a software conversion, utility bills will be mailed later than usual this month. Please note:
• The Town will waive any late fees associated with this delay.
• Residents are welcome to call or stop by Town Hall at any time to receive their current balance and make a payment before bills arrive.
• Those enrolled in draft payments will see their accounts be drafted on May 18 to allow time for bills to be mailed first.
Payments are due to the Town by 5:00 PM on May 26 and are subject to disconnection beginning May 27.

We kicked off our “Meet Your Board” series to help residents get to know the individuals serving the Town of Ranlo. This month, we’re highlighting Commissioner Doug Moore and Commissioner Schivette Hill.
Commissioner Doug Moore has lived in Ranlo for 44 years and has served on the Board since 2015. Growing up in town, he remembers summers spent at the park, from the old metal slide to the small kiddie pool, and walking to Warlick Elementary with his family. Doug has dedicated over three decades to public safety, serving with Ranlo Fire and Rescue for 33 years, including five years as Chief and currently as Assistant Chief. He also serves as a Captain at the Steele Creek Fire Department. Doug has been married to his wife for 26 years, and together they’ve built a large family that holds unconditional love for one another. He shares that what he enjoys most about his role is serving the people of Ranlo, seeing the town grow with new faces, and working alongside town staff, our uniformed men and women, the public works department, and fellow board members to continue building a stronger, safer community.
Commissioner Schivette Hill has called Ranlo home for nearly five years and brings a diverse background in both military and healthcare service. Originally from Virginia Beach and having spent many years in Charlotte, she was elected to the Board in November 2025. Schivette served eight years in the U.S. Air Force as a medic and now works as a Project Manager supporting Electronic Health Record systems, while also serving as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate. She is actively involved in the community as the HOA President of Spencer Heights and is supported not only by a close network of friends, but also by her family back home in Virginia, where she is the oldest of six siblings, her son, Timothy, and her life partner Frank (Tony). Schivette shares that what she values most about Ranlo is its strong sense of community, with neighbors who hold a shared commitment to supporting and uplifting those around them.
Now that you’ve met your board, we’re looking forward to continuing those connections in person at our first Milltown Night next month. We hope to see you there!

This year’s Community Yard Sale had a little bit of everything (and we’re not just talking about what was sold!).
We caught up with a mother-daughter trio who shared that the best part of the day was simply “spending time with their momma,” as they sold a mix of longtime items and a few handmade pieces. Across the way, Glen kept things lively, making deals left and right. Just like a true salesman!
For first-time participants at our annual yard sale, Victor and Sandra's approach was simple: “Slash prices and make offers no one can refuse!” And for many, like Lynn and her daughter, it was a great day to catch up and spend time together as neighbors stopped by.
Thank you to everyone who came out to set up, shop, and enjoy the morning together! 🌸

We’re excited to share that Ranlo was awarded a Safety Grant through the NC League of Municipalities. 👏
The League is a statewide organization that works alongside towns like ours, offering support, resources, and programs that help local governments better serve their communities.
With this funding, Ranlo will be adding new high-visibility traffic barricades. These are portable barriers you see used to block off roads, direct traffic, or create safe work zones during events, construction, and emergency situations.
Upgrading these helps improve safety for both our municipal workers and the community by making these areas more visible and easier to navigate.
Thank you to the NC League of Municipalities for supporting towns like ours and helping us continue to prioritize safety across Ranlo. It’s an upgrade that makes a big difference when it comes to safety across town.
Shout out to the Town of Ranlo for being awarded an NCLM Safety Grant 👏 💰️
The town applied for the grant to purchase traffic barricades. Purchasing new, high-visibility barricades will help reduce the risk for municipal workers and the public, particularly during high-traffic events, construction projects and emergency situations. 👷
