‼️A Message from The Mayor‼️

When I ran for election in 2023 I promised I would do my best to mitigate confusion during my time in office. During our recent board meeting we as a board did not explain the reason WHY we chose to remove to set the Public Hearings for Annexation and Rezoning of the Evans Lake Property.

Please see the message below.

To: Residents and Interested Parties
From: Office of the Mayor
Subject: Annexation and Rezoning – Evans Lake Road
Date: 4/16/2026

Residents and Interested Parties,

The board and I are aware that there is some confusion and concern regarding the Board’s recent decision to remove the item to set a public hearing for the proposed annexation and rezoning on Evans Lake Road.

At this time, the Board has not been provided with sufficient information to make a fully informed decision. As a result, the item to schedule the public hearing was removed from the agenda.

The next step in the process will be to formally set a public hearing once the necessary information has been received and reviewed. When the public hearing is scheduled, proper notice will be given (The first notice must appear 10-25 days before the public hearing), and all interested residents will have the opportunity to attend and provide public comment.

Thank you for your time, attention, and continued engagement in this matter.

Respectfully,
Hayley Beaty
Mayor

Today, we had the opportunity to host a roundtable discussion with Congressman Tim Moore, alongside several of our local Dallas business owners, members of our fire and police departments, community leaders dedicated to serving Dallas, and the Director of our County’s Art & History Museum.

The conversation was robust and meaningful, covering a variety of topics that impact our town; from public safety and economic growth to preserving the history and culture that make Dallas so special. We appreciate the willingness of everyone at the table to share ideas, perspectives, and solutions.

We especially want to thank Congressman Moore for taking the time to visit, listen, and engage with those who are actively investing in the future of our community. Opportunities like this help strengthen partnerships and ensure that the voices of Dallas are heard at every level.

Thank you again to all those who were able to participate. Thank you The Historic Dallas Jail - Weddings & Special Events for hosting and The Country Kitchen for catering!

We look forward to continuing these conversations as we work together to build an even stronger Dallas.

With permission from this young man’s mom:

I am happy to share a photo of his artwork with you!

Out of all the things he could paint, this young man chose the Dallas Courthouse; and did it straight from memory! 👏🎨

We love seeing our youth take pride in their community and celebrate the places that make it special. Great job, keep up the amazing work!
