Summer is just around the corner, and the water is calling.

Before you head out, here's a reminder that free life jackets are available to borrow right here in Cleveland County. No cost. All ages and sizes. Just take one, wear one, and return it when you're done.

Spending Spring Break in or around water? Whether they’re spending the day at the lake or playing in the pool, make sure your kids know these basic water safety skills. Kids should be able to:⁠ ⁠

⚪️ Step or jump into water over their head and return to the surface.⁠

⚪️ Turn around in the water and orient to safety.⁠

⚪️ Float or tread water.⁠

⚪️ Combine breathing with forward movement in the water.⁠

⚪️ Exit the water.⁠ ⁠

Even when children know how to swim, we recommend adults take turns supervising.
