We had such a great time celebrating park supporters tonight!

Thanks to every supporter stopped by Cordelia Park for the fun -- our work simply wouldn't be possible without support from this great community. It fills our hearts to know there are so many people who love parks so much!

✈️One of Mecklenburg County’s most unique destinations is the CLT Airport Overlook.

This small but mighty park by Charlotte Douglas International Airport has a playgrounds, lots of picnic tables, and plenty of benches to sit and watch planes take off and land — plus one of the best views of the uptown skyline!

Have you been?

🐛 One huge benefit of visiting parks is seeing cool critters!

This fella is (we're pretty sure) an American Dagger Moth caterpillar, snapped last summer in James Boyce Park in Stonehaven. We have a huge diversity of insect life here in Mecklenburg County, and you might be surprised who you'll find scuttling between the leaves if you stop and take a minute to relax and observe.

Where's your favorite place to see wildlife in Mecklenburg County?

🌳 It’s hard to beat McAlpine Creek Park on a Sunday!

This Southeast Charlotte gem has:
🚲 lots of paths for biking, running, and walking
🛝 play spaces for the kiddos
🎣 a pond with lots of folks fishing (and plenty of happy ducks)
🐾 a nice, big dog park

And so much more! If you haven’t been, you’re missing out. If you have been here: What’s your favorite part of the park?

Need another great reason to check out Little Sugar Creek Greenway in Midtown? There’s a new statute of legendary Charlotte golfer Charlie Sifford!

⛳️This statue of Charlie — the first Black golfer to play on the PGA tour — is the 12th in a series of statues on the Trail of History section of the greenway.

This is a beautiful urban section of the greenway nestled between the Dilworth area and uptown — and it’s the perfect spot to take your kids for a stroll or roll. Educational *and* fun!

Partners for Parks is a founding member of the Trail of History, and we were thrilled to watch Charlie’s statue be unveiled on Monday. Have you seen it yet??

Celebrating a year of growth!

Our Annual Sponsor Event is just around the corner this June at Park Road Park. Before we look ahead to our next big goals for Mecklenburg County, we are taking time to celebrate everything our sponsors helped us accomplish last year.

Since last year's event, our sponsors' contributions have helped us:

‣ Donate $50,000 to Mecklenburg County for youth sports scholarships
‣ Contribute $25,000 to the renovation of Grayson Skatepark at the Naomi Drenan Recreation Center
‣ Secure sponsorships and fund operations for the Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Senior Games

When our community comes together, incredible things happen. Donors of $100 or more are invited to celebrate with us at this year's event: https://partnersforparks.org/donate/

It is thanks to sponsors like J.D. Goodrum that Partners for Parks can continue to facilitate community outreach, education, and provide essential assistance to improve our local recreation areas.

Happy National Arbor Day from Partners for Parks!

Here in Mecklenburg County, our trees are some of our most vital community infrastructure. While our region's tree canopy spans both public and private lands, our local parks and nature preserves protect thousands of acres of mature, dense forests. In fact, out of the 22,000 acres managed by the county, an incredible 78% is covered by tree canopy.

These public forests cool our neighborhoods, clean the air we breathe, and protect the drinking water source for nearly a million residents.
