After a pause on our outreach activities due to COVID 19 and the government mandate we are about to resume. On Sunday I served as guest speaker at the induction ceremony of newly elected officials of Scottville community, a new community in the suburbs of Pleebo City. Today, Monday, 6/1/20 while heading to Barrabo with supplies for the Dugboken school, and in furtherance of our many community engagements, we stopped and identified with the Karloken Health Center. We provided 3 hospital mattresses, tide soap, clora (super bleach) and face mask to contain the spread of COVID 19 virus. Tomorrow meetings with stakeholders and Wednesday I will be a guest on Radio Harper morning program.
We won the primary today not because there is no contender in the ANC. We won because the decision of our contenders coincides with the voting populace of Maryland County - the County of my birth. A county whose progress is as much equated to my religion in one way.
We are grateful to the confidence reposed in us by the people. Maryland will progress and our people will have a better representation.

The Alternative National Congress (ANC), a political party that I am a member of is going to the primary today. I am one of its candidates in today's primary.
I will urge the delegates at the primary in the ANC Maryland 2020 Midterm elections to vote wisely because the victory of the ANC in these pending elections will be based on who the people are familiar with in terms of working the grounds.
We are committed to pursuing empowerment for young people, educational loans, and as we have always done - providing medical supplies to needed hospitals/clinics in our beloved county and if possible the entire Mama Liberia is a key component of this endeavor.
Maryland deserves better!

Prominent Marylander Urges Collective Support To Development
By Langston Joe Wilson, Maryland County Correspondent
PLEEBO, Feb. 16 (LINA) - A U.S-based son of Maryland County is urging citizens of the county to join efforts in supporting development initiatives in the county.
Mr. Eric Giko made the statement in an interview with the Liberia News Agency following the donation of 100 pieces of delivery mattresses and a consignment of assorted medical supplies worth US$15,000 to several health centers in rural communities across Maryland County.
Giko also donated laptop computers to some organizations and individuals, including the Progressive Fulani Youth Association and the Computer Secretarial Institute (CSI), a southeastern-based technical and vocational institution.
"It is important for every Marylander to contribute to the development of the county, whether residing at home or abroad," Mr. Giko indicated.
He at the same time wants members of the Maryland County Legislative Caucus and local authorities to organize programs that will highlight challenges and prospects of all sectors, including security, health, education and agriculture.
Giko opined that such a program will promote peace, unity and reconciliation, and help identify issues that need immediate response from the county leadership and determine the level of progress made at the end of each year.
He said the initiative will also help the county to drive its own development agenda by initiating scholarship programs, compensation of volunteer teachers, health workers and others in different sectors.
Institutions that benefited from the recent donations include the Pleebo Health Center, Yediaken Clinic, Old Sodoken Clinic, Glofaken Health Center, Manolu Clinic and Gbloken Clinic.
Giko said the donation is his personal initiative in reaching out to health centers that were not captured during in the donations he made in 2018 on behalf of the National Maryland County Association of Liberia, USA Inc. (NAMCAL), a conglomeration of U.S.-based Marylanders residing in the United States.
It can be recalled that Giko donated on behalf of NAMCAL over US$1,000.00 to the Maryland County Team during the qualifying rounds of the just-ended National County Sports Meet.
He also donated a 300 watts transmitter each to Radio Harper and the Voice of Truth FM in Pleebo during his visit to the county in 2017.

The National County Meet Tournament shows a lot of unity. I am so proud of the gallant soccer stars of my county. They have brilliantly maintained our stay in this prestigious tournament. Congratulations on crossing over to the next stage.
