"On March 11, protesters entered Azalea Bistro in Saluda, North Carolina to denounce its founder and former head chef, Garrett Peter Tallent. On March 3, Tallent was arrested for ra**ng one of his female employees on charges that include second degree kidnapping, assault by strangulation, assault on a female, three counts of forcible s*x offense, and second degree forcible r**e.
..
In video provided to Incendiary, Emma Tallent, Garret’s wife, can be heard trying to loudly talk over and mock the protesters as the speaker on the megaphone describes Tallent’s s*xual assault of his employee. The speaker pointed out that the restaurant profited a violent ra**st, and appealed for solidarity from the employees. Soon after this, music was raised to a loud volume in the kitchen, and a high-pitched alarm was set off."

Throughout the history of the United States, police oppression has been an ongoing war against the working class. With the bourgeoisie creating laws at the top, laws ensure that workers continue to generate profit for them.
The announcement of this new de-escalation policy by Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department states that it is still legal for a cop to murder, and get away with it. The new policy “can be enforced if an internal investigation shows an officer missed opportunities to avoid using force”, however do we trust the police to hold themselves accountable, especially after they have committed murder? Since 2005, only 35 cops have been convicted with an estimated 13,500 people who have been killed in that span.
As long as capitalism stands, the police will be there to protect it. Only through revolution to destroy capitalism, can we end police violence. This “de-escalation” policy is a farce, a game that CMPD is using to save face after years of reported demoralization, bad public opinion, and increased hatred from the masses.
Also why do they need a whole training facility just for de-escalation, it's almost as if police are not here to serve and protect, but shoot and get away.
Promising safer policing, CMPD breaks ground on de-escalation training facility
The new facility comes on the heels of a recent CMPD policy change.

"On Saturday, February 1, members of STP-C and the Charlotte community came together to honor and commemorate the slaves that were buried in unmarked graves in front of the gentrifying, petit-bourgeois Silos apartments. It wasn’t until 2014 that the grave-site was acknowledged by city officials and local news station WSOC TV. There was no effort from city officials to honor the slaves that helped to build this city while being oppressed and brutalized.
Instead of waiting on bourgeois city officials and politicians to act through meaningless gestures on behalf of the slaves buried at the grave-site, we decided to take matters into our own hands. During the event, comrades gave speeches on Black revolutionaries and fighters who combated and resisted chattel slavery in order to liberate themselves and others from bo***ge. This included Harriet Tubman, Frederick Douglass, and Nat Turner. Following the speeches, comrades presented art pieces they made for the event and explained how they related to resistance against slavery and white supremacy."
