Political page sharing town agendas, meetings and community events. Hello Weddington! The election is Tuesday November 3, 2015. Who am I? Why am I running?
My name is Janice Propst and I am running for Weddington Town Council, the District 4 seat. I can honestly say I am a native of Weddington, North Carolina. I was born in Monroe, NC and grew up my early years in Weddington, attending one of the earlier versions of Weddington Elementary (where Weddington United Methodist Church stands today). I am a fourth generation member of a five generation Wedd
ington family farm. Today our farm still produces crops that you watch grow along Weddington Road. I graduated from Appalachian State University with a Bachelor of Science degree and my business career spans thirty years in sales and marketing. As I stated earlier, Weddington is my home town. I have a commitment to the community, to the families, and to the preservation of what we all love, the small town feeling that brought us here in the first place. Anyone that already knows me knows my heart of service for the town and service for people. Over the years I have been a part of many community activism events when the issue merited. I have served 4 and half years on the Weddington Planning Board, was chairperson for the Historic Preservation Commission for three years and have volunteered for all the town events (Easter egg hunt, Fall Festival, and Christmas tree lighting). In 2014 I was elected to serve a three year term on the Board of Directors for Weddington’s fire department (PVFD). Working with the Weddington fire department employees was a pleasure. I resigned my position on the Board of Directors August of this year to run for Weddington Town Council. I will clarify more detailed and specific issues for my candidacy in the weeks ahead, but for now I will say I am running because I see Weddington needs real leadership from people that consider this their hometown. We need people to serve who put Weddington first, public servants who value Weddington for its unique charm and lifestyle, something to protect -- it is our home! I have a dedication and commitment to the Weddington community, its citizens, and what makes our small community unique. Over the next few weeks I look forward to meeting more of my neighbors and listening to your concerns about our town. Thank you for taking the time to visit my page.
