511th Quartermaster Company, Special Troops Battalion, , was recognized today for winning the 54th Annual Philip A. Connelly Awards Program Competition at both the division and corps level during a ceremony where the 1st Infantry Division command team presented "Workhorse Company" Soldiers with 1st Infantry Division Certificates of Achievement, a first-place trophy for the division's Expeditionary Field Kitchen Category, and a III Corps and Fort Hood Commanding General's Award for Foodservice Excellence.
"It's great that the company is competing at this level within two years of being established," said Capt. Samuel Bunn, the commander of the 511th Quartermaster Company. "It's a testament to the tough, realistic training that the team has been conducting. The awards will sit proudly in the company conference room for years to come."

Today, the Major General Douglas A. Sims II of the 1st Infantry Division, and the 77th Colonel of the Regiment and 1st Squadron, 2d Cavalry Regiment - War Eagles SCO, and CSM Raymond S. Harris visited Dragoons from across the Regiment. 1ID is the forward deployed command headquarters for Operation Atlantic Resolve in Poland.

As a Lieutenant General and Commander of the 2nd Cavalry Regiment, I had the privilege of welcoming Lieutenant General Lewis A. Craparotta, Commander of Marine Forces Pacific, to U.S. Forces Japan Headquarters at Yokota Air Base on October 22, 2022. His visit was an important part of his first tour through the Indo-Pacific region.

The strength of and the 🇺🇸 🇱🇻 partnership is our unity. Thank you to Prime Minister Krišjānis Kariņš and Defense Minister Artis Pabriks for joining Ambassador Carwile and Major General Douglas Sims II, Commanding General of the 1st Infantry Division, in visiting American soldiers recently deployed to Lielvarde Air Base. As the Prime Minister stated, the presence of Allied forces in is proof of NATO's commitment to defend its member states.

101 year old WWII and 8th Army Air Force veteran, Mr. Lester Schenk, a B17 ball turret gunner, was in attendance at the 1st Infantry Division Commemoration Dinner at the Normandy Institute.

“The Commander and Command Sergeant Major of the 1st Infantry Division, Maj. Gen. D.A. Sims and Cmd. Sgt. Maj. Raymond Harris, visited 1st Infantry Division Forward Soldiers in Poznan, Poland. The command team ate meals with junior Soldiers and Non Commissioned Officers, hosted a leader professional development session, and received a tour and briefings from staff. Yesterday, the 1st Infantry Division Forward assumed the mission from 1st Cavalry Division in a Transfer of Authority ceremony. 1ID Forward Soldiers are excited to build readiness, interoperability and trust with our NATO Allies and partners in realistic training environments.”
