Providing mental health care, substance use treatment and social services in Tennessee

The McNabb Center is the region’s leading nonprofit provider of mental health, substance use, social and victim services. By focusing on an individual’s “Well Mind, Well Being,” we provide a quality and compassionate approach to care from infancy through adulthood. Since 1948, the Center has proudly served individuals with the most needs and fewest resources. Today, the McNabb Center delivers support to more than 30,000 people throughout East Tennessee each year.

Growth does not happen without struggle — but even in the darkest seasons, there is hope for transformation.
“Metamorphosis” by Victoria “Torie” Wheeler was inspired by her collaboration with Melinda through the Helen Ross McNabb Center’s Breakthrough Gala. Through hand-cut paper flowers and the image of a butterfly emerging among the blooms, the piece reflects resilience, healing, and the beauty of becoming something new.
This original artwork will be featured in our live auction on June 18, 2026, with proceeds supporting mental health and recovery services across our community.
Because every person has blooming potential. 🦋

"We're gonna create something really cool together."

That was Annie's mindset walking in. And what unfolded from there was exactly what the Breakthrough Gala is all about.
Annie is a local Chattanooga artist. Robert is connected to the McNabb Center. When the two were brought together, they did not just make art, they had real conversations, shared a real process, and built something meaningful together.
That original piece will be featured in a live auction on June 18, 2026 at the second annual Breakthrough Gala — with every dollar raised going directly toward the mental health and recovery services the McNabb Center provides to our Chattanooga community every single day.
Art has the power to reach people in ways words sometimes cannot. Come see that power on June 18.
