Thanks to all the kids and grown ups who showed some love for Walking Stick Woods today at our Family Stewardship Day! Thanks to Bob and all the North Park Village Nature Center volunteers for helping our group remove buckthorn and pull up a lot of garlic mustard. Some impressive work by some very tiny hands. 😎 We had fun before the downpour started. See you in the fall for our next event. 🌳🍃💚🌿

The Nature Center's shed roof has been repaired! Finally the Nature Center and it's stewards have a safe, dry place to store their tools. The repairs have made chief steward Bob Porter very happy! Thanks to all the 39th Ward residents who advocated and voted for this project through last year's Participatory Budgeting cycle, and thanks to the members of the Nature Center's PAC for proposing this project. Your support will enable the ongoing environmental restoration of the natural areas at North Park Village for many years to come!

The Nature Center PAC is raising $3,500 to purchase two Stihl brush cutters as part of The BUCKTHORN STOPS Here Campaign!
Use the QR Code or go here to donate today: https://interland3.donorperfect.net/weblink/weblink.aspx?name=E190660&id=54
Your gift will go towards the purchase of two heavy-duty, low emission brush cutters to remove the buckthorn trees and shrubs that are rapidly overtaking and killing the native plants within the Nature Center.
Buckthorn is a very weedy, non-native plant that is the #1 bully of the Nature Center. After an area is cleared of buckthorn, it will be reseeded with native wildflowers and grasses to improve the biodiversity and beauty of the grounds.
If you have questions, please message this page or email [email protected]
Thank you for your generosity!
