Ammie Kessem, 41st Ward Republican Committeeman and 27-year Chicago Police Department veteran, has been appointed by the Trump Administration to a key position within the U.S. Department of Labor.

Kessem, a strong supporter of President Donald J. Trump, has long championed the interests of working Americans. Known for her advocacy of organized labor, she publicly supported the 2022 Illinois Workers’ Rights Amendment, emphasizing her belief in competitive wages, safe working conditions, and the right to collective bargaining.
“I am honored to serve in the Department of Labor under President Trump’s America First agenda,” Kessem said. “Throughout my career, I’ve worked alongside hardworking men and women who keep this country strong and safe, and I look forward to advancing the President’s America’s Talent Strategy: Building the Workforce for the Golden Age.

In light of her federal appointment, Kessem will resign as 41st Ward Republican Committeeman, withdraw as the Republican nominee for 9th District Cook County Commissioner, and retire from the Chicago Police Department.
