Did You Know? Audits ensure CHA staff and contractors follow policies and protect public funds. The CARES Act audit confirmed CHA’s $45,896.66 in COVID 19 relief aid was used properly and fully compliant with federal rules.

CHA banned a major HCV vendor for repeatedly overcharging Section 8 tenants and violating rent-fairness requirements. Their failure to comply with HCV policies resulted in termination from serving our program participants.

The Work Continues:
The OIG reached hundreds through three tailored trainings, helping HCV participants, newly elected public housing leaders, and CHA employees better understand how to identify and report fraud, waste, and abuse.

OIG completed 7 investigations this quarter: 1 with no violations and 6 with recommendations to enhance efficiency. We averaged 124 complaints monthly and trained HCV participants, resident leaders, and CHA staff to report fraud and misconduct.
