Increasing public safety and strengthening police oversight and accountability in the 020 district.

We encourage folks to show up and give public comment! Your voice matters!

🚨On Thursday, January 29, 2026, the Community Commission for Public Safety and Accountability will hold its monthly public meeting at 6:30 p.m. at Malcolm X College.

The meeting will include several critical votes, beginning with the selection of a new Chief Administrator of the Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA). The previous Chief Administrator stepped down in February 2025, and City ordinance assigns the Commission responsibility for appointing a replacement when a vacancy occurs. If approved, the Commission's selection will be forwarded to City Council for confirmation.

The Commission will also vote on its strategic priorities for 2026, which help determine the areas of focus for the Commission's work in the coming year. In addition, the Commission will vote on 2026 goals for the Police Board President, COPA Chief Administrator, and CPD Superintendent, establishing expectations for leadership performance across our public safety institutions.
