Play for Peace®

We bring together children, youth, and organizations from communities in conflict zones 🌍🌻 Every community can create and sustain peace.

Play for Peace is a community of people who are, right now, creating a more peaceful world. In fact, one of the most exciting things about Play for Peace is that at any time of day or night Play for Peace is happening somewhere in the world. Children, youth and adults, even in communities in conflict, are deciding to choose compassion and practice peace, and they are learning to do this through the joy of play. Few things can provide a common link between people like laughter and play. Through cooperative play, we have a universal and non-threatening platform around which people can come together and learn. Play creates a gateway to moments when differences dissolve, fear melts away, and we see what connects us rather than what divides us. At Play for Peace we believe;

Everyone can be an architect, builder and leader for peace. Play is one of the most innovative catalysts for peace in the world today. If Play for Peace is happening around the world it is either through one of our two action programs; Play for Peace Training or Practice Peace Session and supported by our membership programs which includes our; Certified Trainers Program, Play for Peace Club and Mentors Program and our Partner for Peace Program. Together these programs encourage people to shift from a place of isolation, fear and violence to a place of inspiration, collaboration and connection. Entire communities begin to unlearn previously held biases and take action together. It is the playful action that inspires people from different cultures to reach across barriers and boundaries. In the realm of play, pure creativity exists and transformation occurs. From this place of transformation, communities have the foundation to generate new avenues for building peace.

Today is United Nations Day. 🌍

To everyone who celebrated 28 years of Play for Peace with us, the facilitators, partners, donors, and friends who joined from every corner of the world...thank you!

You made it a celebration we won’t forget, and a reminder that community holds this work up.

It also fits today. The UN’s Sustainable Development Goals can feel big and far away, so on we make them practical. Each Play for Peace activity shows which goals it supports, so a facilitator can pick a game and see how it connects to different UN goals. Swipe to see one example.

A few moments from our AEE APAC masterclass in Bangkok, Thailand. 🇹🇭💛

Led by our trainers Swati and Agyat, the session brought together 16 young facilitators and practitioners for a day of cooperative play, reflection, and honest conversation about what it really means to hold space for others.

Yesterday marked the International Day of Non-Violence, honoring Gandhi's birthday and the belief that the greatest strength isn't found in force.

It's found in the choice not to use it.

At Play for Peace, we see this force in action every day: in a circle of children from different sides of conflict, choosing a game over a grudge. In a facilitator choosing patience over frustration. In a community choosing connection over division, again and again, until it becomes a habit.

Nonviolence isn't passive. It's the harder, stronger choice, and we get to practice it together.
