Denise Flores raised her right hand today and took the oath once again, but this isn’t her first time. 🇺🇸

After completing her initial contract in 2024, SPC Flores made the decision to continue serving in the Army National Guard, proving that commitment isn’t just a one-time choice, it’s a mindset.

This one hits different for me. Denise was one of my soldiers in the Honor Guard, and having a front-row seat to her journey makes this moment that much more meaningful.

If you’ve served before and have been thinking about coming back, know that it’s possible. Your experience still matters, and there’s a place for you to continue serving.

Wheeling High School senior Joselyn Cejudo Vizcarra enlisted today as an 88M, choosing a path filled with purpose, discipline, and opportunity. 🇺🇸

As a Motor Transport Operator, she’ll play a key role in supporting missions and leading from the front. At the same time, she’s earning college benefits, tuition assistance, and real-world job skills that will carry her far beyond graduation.

Today, I had the honor of serving as the aide to Maj. Gen. Rodney Boyd, The Adjutant General of Illinois and Commander of the Illinois National Guard, during a special visit to the Consulate General of the Philippines in Chicago.

We attended the Congressional Gold Medal Ceremony honoring Filipino American World War II veterans and their families for their extraordinary service and sacrifice.

It was also a privilege to meet Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Taguban and Consul General Diano. To make the day even more meaningful, I had the chance to catch up with CW4 (Ret.) Brotonel, someone I first met back in 2023.

Moments like this reaffirm the enduring alliance and shared values that continue to strengthen the bond between the United States and the Philippines. 🫡
