Transgender Awareness Month is in November. Allies can begin now, learning about resources and how to be an ally to your transgender friends and family.

Always remember… transgender people are just like you and me, they want to live life to the fullest, to feel safe and loved for who they are. There’s nothing terroristic about transgender people, no matter the lies of those who fear them.

The Learning Center November is Transgender Awareness Month. The UCLA Williams Institute estimates that 1.4 million adults in the United States identify as transgender. This month is a time to raise awareness, call for change, and advocate for all transgender and gender-diverse people and communities.

Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community Churches was founded in 1968, during an era of civil unrest and laws that persecuted the LGBTQ community. Raids in gay bars were just the tip of the iceberg. People could be arrested just on the suspicion of being LGBTQ. Churches, clubs, and bars were set on fire. People were killed in those churches, clubs, and bars.

Rev Troy Perry established a revolution for our rights! He was more than a preacher! He, along with others, risked their lives to fight for us.

We may have lost the scrimmage, but we have not lost the war! Let's continue fighting for freedom, both here and across the world!

Always remember... The God of our understanding will always be in control no matter what happens, no matter how scary life gets, no matter our politics.

BREAKING: Michigan's Senate just passed Senate Bill 4, the expansion of the Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act to protect LGBTQ+ Michiganders from discrimination in housing, employment, and public accommodations. Today's bipartisan vote is a major milestone in the fight for LGBTQ+ equality in our state.

Equality Michigan now urges the Michigan House of Representatives to follow suit and take swift action by voting in favor of Senate Bill 4.
