🏙️ 📍• 🎥⬇️ • IG@chicagoghetto4 • Whodi G, also known as Whodi from PaxTown 071, was a longtime figure connected to Chicago's East Side street and drill culture. His story was marked by survival and repeated violence. In an older interview that resurfaced after his death, Whodi said he had been shot nine times across four separate incidents, describing the kind of danger he had lived through over the years.
As he got older, Whodi began putting more energy into music and telling his story, building recognition within Chicago's underground rap scene. His music and interviews reflected someone who had spent years around the streets and had survived situations that could have taken his life much earlier. While there is limited reliable reporting documenting his complete biography or music catalog, he became recognizable online as one of the older faces associated with PaxTown 071.
Sadly, after surviving so much, Whodi was reportedly killed at 42 years old in Chicago's South Shore neighborhood. Police said a 42-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy were standing on a sidewalk near 71st Street and Jeffery Boulevard when someone opened fire.
The older victim was shot in the hip and transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead; the teenager was shot in the arm and was reported in good condition.
Reports and people within Chicago's music community identified the deceased man as Whodi, although some early reporting noted police had not yet publicly confirmed that identification. No suspect was reported in custody as of September 20.
Whodi's death makes his story especially tragic: a man who survived being shot multiple times, lived through years of street violence, and eventually used music and interviews to document what he had experienced ultimately lost his life to the same cycle of gun violence he had survived for years.
His story is another example of how Chicago's drill culture is often tied to real people carrying years of loss, trauma and survival behind the music.
