An everyday person fighting for everyday people. Candidate for IL-5th

01/16/2026

After being laid off from my teaching position, I found myself looking for ways to continue to serve my community. I, like so many others, witnessed the lack of urgency and failures of public officials to address the problems facing everyday people. I started this campaign with one thing in mind: the people. This wasn’t about me, but about us and how we could work toward something better. As someone who has been impacted by the policy failures and negligence of our elected officials, I knew that we needed someone who was willing to fight for the things we deserved. I am humbled to have been embraced and supported by so many people. That is why my choice to withdraw from the upcoming primary was not an easy decision. I will continue to work tirelessly in every capacity to help my community. I am reminded by what I have told my students, if you want something never stop fighting for it.

Every year hundreds of thousands of people from across the country travel to El Cerrito, also known as the Shrine of our Lady Guadalupe, in Des Plaines to celebrate. The story of San Juan Diego and La Virgin de Guadalupe is a story that merges the indigenous and Spanish backgrounds of Mexico into something unique to Latin America, but especially in Mexico. Her images have been used from the Mexican War of Independence to the Mexican Revolution. She has become a symbol of the indigenous backgrounds of Mexico and the future of the Mexican people.

As our communities have been attacked by the ICE and the federal government, the largest pilgrimage in the United States did not experience the same crowd sizes that we are used to. The fear and violence that has taken over our neighborhood did have an effect, but some of us still came out to show that we are proud of who we are and our culture. Most importantly, we will continue to fight for our rights and for our communities.

As we approach the end of the year, we are once again asking for your financial support. We are a campaign focused around everyday people fighting for everyday people. This is not an easy fight, and asking for money is not something we want to do. Unfortunately it is something we have to do. If you can donate 5$, $10, $50, or even $100 to our campaign to make sure that we provide true representation to the everyday people of Illinois’ 5th Congressional District. Check the link in our bio to donate. Thank you!

Also, Bernie Sanders thank you for the inspiration.

Latinos and immigrants have been continuously blamed for the problems facing the United States. From Mexican Repatriation in the 1930s to the biggest deportation effort in US history in the 1950s. We have fought for our rights then, and we will continue to fight now.

Thank you to Sabrina Carpenter for calling the use of her song and I will support you in any legal action you take against this administration.

I was proud to join the Chicago Refugee Coalitionas we prepared food relief packages and turkeys to pass out to the community. Thank you to Loyola University for the food donations and Islamic Relief USA for the halal turkeys. With everyday people struggling to make ends meet and with rising unemployment, now more than ever it’s important for us help our neighbors in anyway that we can. As I used to tell my students, always be good to yourself and to others.

As we approach our court hearing, I want to thank everyone for their support. I am the son of an immigrant and I have personally experienced the injustices of our immigration system. I believe that we deserve leaders who will fight for their constituents. Not just make statements, but make actions. Thank you to all who have supported us and continue to do so. I will provide updates as I receive them.

Union power is people power. Yesterday Starbucks Workers United began their strike after failed negotiations with Starbucks. Every worker in this country deserves the right to unionize without fear of retaliation and to have their labor be respected through proper compensation. When the CEO of a company is making 6,666 times what the median worker is making then something is horribly wrong. This not an issue of what the workers did wrong, but how greed has consumed the already insanely rich 1%. As a proud union member, I will always stand with labor in its fight against greed. As a human being, I will always put people over profits.
