WHAT TRAINING DO WE PROVIDE FOR OUR SENIOR GUIDES?

Senior Guides support the instructor of Smartphone Basics for Beginners classes at all 3 levels. Newly retired adults make great Senior Guides! It's a wonderful opportunity to "give back" while making some new friends.

Because technology never sleeps, we provide our Senior Guides with frequent Continuing Education opportunities. Specifically, we are looking for older adults with "just average" smartphone skills with the desire to continue to learn.

If you are interested in learning more about becoming a Senior Guide, please text or call Nicole Christ at 513-564-9777 or see engagingseniors.org

Seniors Guiding Seniors

Critical to the success of our OWL Everyday Technology and other Mobile Digital Literacy (MDL) courses is our “seniors guiding seniors” approach. We pair our program participants with knowledgeable, vetted Senior Guides in two-on-one or small class environments. Our Senior Guides have “been there, done that”… in fact, over 90% of them are graduates of the OWL Everyday Technology program themselves! Thorough background checks are run on all Senior Guide candidates; you can rest assured any information shared with our Senior Guides is safe and secure before, during, and after completing the course.

You can learn more about this unique approach at engagingseniors.org

LEARN FROM SOMEONE WHO’S BEEN IN YOUR SHOES — NOT TALKED DOWN TO

What makes EngAging Seniors’ Smartphone Basics for Beginners Class unique?
You won’t be learning from fast-talking “tech experts.”
You’ll be learning from people just like you.
Our “Seniors Guiding Seniors” approach means:
✔ You’re paired with a trained Senior Guide who understands your questions
✔ Small, comfortable groups or two-on-one support
✔ No rushing, no pressure — just patient, real help

Here’s the part people love most:
Over 90% of our Senior Guides started exactly where you are now.
They’ve learned these skills themselves — and now they help others do the same.
You’re always safe and respected:
• Every Senior Guide is carefully screened with background checks
• Your personal information stays private and secure
• You can feel comfortable asking anything

Our guides receive special training and ongoing education, so you’re always getting clear, up-to-date help you can actually understand.

What makes EngAging Seniors Smartphone Basics for Beginners classes different?

Technology classes designed especially for older adults can make all the difference in helping seniors stay connected, confident, and independent. At EngAging Seniors, every class and all learning material is created with older adults in mind.

Nicole provides patient, easy-to-follow instruction in small group settings, supported by friendly senior peer “guides” who understand the challenges many older adults face with technology because they’ve experienced them too.

Participants receive a printed manual and handouts, hands-on practice using their own smartphones, and personalized help tailored to their specific phone brand and model. Classes also include accommodations for vision, hearing, or dexterity difficulties, creating a comfortable, supportive, and judgment-free learning environment where questions are always welcome.

Whether you are an older adult wanting to feel more comfortable with technology, or an adult child looking for trusted guidance for a parent or loved one, EngAging Seniors is here to help.
