Cincinnati Action for Housing Now We are a grassroots ballot campaign to fund truly affordable housing and build vibrant communities.

Cincinnati Action for Housing Now is a grassroots ballot campaign to fund truly affordable housing and ensure that all Cincinnatians, regardless of how much money we have or what zip code we live in, can have a safe place to call home. We are a grassroots movement of everyday people taking bold action to create housing for all. We are mobilizing to pass a city charter amendment that will allow us to vote YES to restore our earned income tax to its 2020 level to fund truly affordable housing. This would cost most households less than $11 a month, but would generate between $40 and $50 million every year for truly affordable housing so that eventually all of us can have a stable place to call home.

AFFORDABLE TO WHO? 🤔 Why is "affordable" housing being built but it is not affordable to you?? We may have your answer here.

You would think building a basic need such as affordable housing would be simple but unfortunately it is quite the opposite. Why? The simple answer is that funding available for truly affordable housing is slim and can be very competitive to attain and this process was designed by accident. Poverty pays just as luxury real estate pays. Here, you will find a basic overview of terms to know, what AMI is, and some of the funding mechanisms used to build affordable housing in the state of ohio/Cincy.

We need more incentives and community mandates to build housing for people with the lowest income levels!

🤦‍♂️🤦‍♀️ Unfortunate housing fact of the day: with 55,000 units of affordable missing missing, the city of Cincinnati has the highest amount of affordable housing units missing in the state of Ohio, yet is the third largest city by population. When we’re talking housing justice, we’re including homeownership! As of right now, homeownership is unattainable for thousands of Cincinnatians & it’s getting harder by the year. We need homeownership opportunities for all of us no matter the income, and that includes mortgages that are affordable for all of us.
